Dr. Thomas "Tom" Berchtold
Dr. Thomas "Tom" Berchtold, affectionately known as Dr. B by his patients, is a board-certified orthodontist bringing two decades of dental experience gained during his service in the U.S. Navy. His extensive military background has provided him with a profound understanding of the unique needs of patients across all age groups. Before moving to the Rocky Mountains, Dr. B also experienced significant success in Southern California as a private practice orthodontist.
Dr. B's commitment goes beyond simply straightening teeth. He employs a holistic philosophy in creating beautiful smiles, emphasizing facial aesthetics, proper formative function, and thorough orthodontic treatment planning for both adults and children. He delivers care with kindness, enthusiasm and expertise and wants his patients to have the best outcomes possible.
Dr. B was awarded the Naval Health Professions Scholarship while at Utah State University and obtained his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Virginia Commonwealth University. He completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Certificate through the U.S. Navy. He later specialized in orthodontics by earning a Masters in Clinical Dentistry and a Certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he was selected as Chief Resident. Dr. B possesses significant expertise in complex orthognathic surgical treatments, multidisciplinary treatment planning, advanced orthodontic preparation for restorative procedures, and the placement of temporary anchorage devices.
Known for his exceptional bedside manner, Dr. B connects easily with young individuals and firmly believes in the positive impact that a skilled orthodontic team can have on a patient’s well-being. His enthusiastic approach, coupled with his ability to actively listen to patients, comprehend their needs, and achieve exceptional outcomes, sets him apart.

Outside of work, Dr. B enjoys volunteering in the community, traveling, staying fit and spending time with his family. He is excited to establish enduring relationships with the families of Littleton and neighboring communities.
